Elias String Quartet nominated for Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2013

The Elias String Quartet, currently on tour for Musica Viva Australia, have been shortlisted for the prestigious Gramophone Music Awards 2013. Their recordings of Schumann and Dvořák, with pianist Jonathan Biss for the Naxos label were described by reviewer David Threasher to have an abundance of individuality and character.

Unfortunately Australian audiences will hear neither the Schumann or Dvořák in this concert tour. Instead, Musica Viva are delighted to present the ensemble performing Haydn’s String Quartet in F major, Beethoven’s String Quartet no 8 (of the famed “Razumovsky” quartets) and a high octane performance of Matthew Hindson’s String Quartet no 2 in world premiere performances.

The Elias String Quartet perform tomorrow night (27th Aug) in Perth, before continuing on to Adelaide and Melbourne. For bookings and more information, visit musicaviva.com.au/elias
