Elias String Quartet Tackle Beethoven

Elias String Quartet Tackle Beethoven

The Elias String Quartet, touring for Musica Viva later this month, have committed themselves to the tremendous task of performing the complete cycle of Beethoven string quartets across their concert tours in the next few years.

The project began in January 2011, in performance at Wigmore hall, with an aim to deliver all seventeen quartets by 2015. In their upcoming tour, the ensemble will perform Beethoven’s eighth quartet, his second quartet dedicated to Count Andrey Razumovsky (and thus often nicknamed the “Razumovsky Quartet”).

The Elias String Quartet have a website dedicated to this project at thebeethovenproject.com.
