Kuss Quartet & Naoko Shimizu arrive in Australia
Naoko Shimizu and the Kuss Quartet landed in Australia on Tuesday and aside from sleeping off the jet-lag the musicians have so far, in various combinations, managed to visit Manly, have an impromptu dinner with the Australian String Quartet, give a masterclass at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, mentor Musica Viva Rising Stars the Sydney Camerata Quartet, and give a couple of interviews.
They’re spending today at Musica Viva’s Sydney office where they will meet Gordon Kerry and work on his new String Quintet, as well as meet Musica Viva staff and film a short interview. It seems good food is a priority, too, with violist William Coleman already enquiring about the best restaurants around the country.
Tomorrow the ensemble travels to Coffs Harbour, where they will perform works by Kerry, Mozart, Kurtag and Brahms.
