Farewell Concerto Copenhagen, welcome the next challenge
We bid Concerto Copenhagen farewell today, and Genevieve Lacey returns to Melbourne, after their concert in Perth Concert Hall last night. It was an eventful tour but it was a pleasure and a privilege hosting such wonderful musicians. We wish them a safe journey home, free of any interruptions due to volcanic ash!
This tour rounds out a busy first six months of the year – it feels like we haven’t stopped since Andreas Scholl arrived, not to mention the intensity of the Musica Viva Festival in April! Musica Viva concerts staff now have a six week break before our next tour: the Goldner String Quartet and Ian Munro. Not that we’ll be twiddling our thumbs by any means! There are preparations to be made for our upcoming concerts and the final touches and tweaks to be made to our 2012 Season.
Carl Vine and other senior staff are heading to the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne which begins tomorrow. One of the prizes on offer is the Musica Viva prize of a national concert tour in a future season. Previous winners include the Atos Trio in 2007 and the Eggner Trio in 2003. Additionally, the Grand Prize winner will head to Sydney immediately after the competition to perform in Musica Viva’s Sydney Coffee Concert series.
