2011 season sneak preview – Andreas Scholl
“Andreas Scholl might just be the Cadillac of countertenors. Well into the second decade of his career, his creamy, rounded tone, combined with a broad range of colors, shades and emotions, is still something to luxuriate in.”
Tom Huizenga, Deceptive Cadence, NPR
“One countertenor stands out above all others, as Caruso among tenors a century ago: Andreas Scholl.”
For his third national concert tour with Musica Viva, Scholl will be accompanied by Baroque specialists Tamar Halperin on harpsichord, cellist Daniel Yeadon, and lutenist Tommie Andersson, in an intimate, poised program that balances the songs of Purcell with two cantatas by Handel.
