Rain doesn’t dampen close of Huntington Estate Music Festival

5 days of stunning performances came to a close yesterday while the rain poured down in Mudgee, the only wet day in a week of otherwise perfect spring weather. The final concert included works by Enescu, Schumann and Nigel Westlake, and finished with a performance of Chausson’s Concert for violin, string quartet and piano, performed by festival favourite Ray Chen with the Atos Trio, Zoe Black and Caroline Henbest.

Final glasses of wine were drunk as friends old and new farewelled each other and said final words of thanks and appreciation to the musicians. The musicians in turn were sad to be leaving but grateful to have some rest time at last.

Anyone wanting additional insight into the Festival should check out ABC Classic FM’s Facebook page, where presenter Christopher Lawrence has been documenting the ABC team’s experience. The Atos Trio has also been keeping a record on their own Facebook page.

Next year’s Huntington Estate Music Festival will take place from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 November, with pre-sale tickets available from February 2011 and general sale tickets available from March 2011.
