Excitement builds – Huntington Festival begins tonight!
After a lovely barbecue at the home of Tim and Nicky Stevens, owners of Huntington Estate Winery, some artists had difficulty getting up for rehearsals this morning. But the show must go on and rehearsals are well underway, at five different venues across Mudgee no less! Many thanks to everyone who has helped Musica Viva secure rehearsal spaces for all 34 artists involved in this year’s festival.
This year’s festival line-up is huge and includes a 15 piece chamber orchestra featuring the talented students from the Australian National Academy of Music, directed by Paul Wright. The students are very excited to be in Mudgee, minor setbacks such as a broken double bass bow aside. Many of them already began networking at the barbecue last night, making contact with and getting advice from the multitude of professional musicians.
Tonight’s concert program is a wonderful way to begin the festival. Check out the program:
Cassado Piano Trio – Atos Trio
Vivaldi Trio Sonata RV86 – Genevieve Lacey, Jane Gower & Lars Ulrik Mortensen
Brahms Violin Sonata no 2 in A major, op 100 – Ray Chen & John Chen
