Award winning Atos Trio begins Australian tour in Perth

Atos Trio at the 5th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition

The last time Atos Trio visited Australia was to take part in the 5th Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in 2007. With record breaking success the Trio won everything on offer including the audience prize. Never before in the history of this competition has a single ensemble garnered this many honours.

Since then the Trio has received rave reviews from around the world and won a number of international prizes including the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, the USA’s foremost distinction for piano trios.

What makes this Trio stand out from its competition is the player’s overwhelming desire to engage audiences through their total commitment to the music. “Its seems that we have the same way of making music. There are a lot of things that we don’t need to verbalise, we have a simular idea of how to rehearse and we like to leave room for some spontaneity on stage”, says violinist Annette von Hehn.

The Trio is very much looking forward to commencing the tour and Perth has turned on some beautiful weather to impress them. The group as a whole is looking forward to traveling around and seeing more of the country, while pianist Thomas in particular is looking forward to an Australian beer and some fish and chips!
