Lunch with the Pavel Haas Quartet
The Pavel Haas Quartet arrived safely in the country over the weekend and are slowly coming to terms with the Jet-lag. Peter & Veronika slept 14 hours on Saturday night but found time to go to Bondi on Sunday afternoon. This morning, the Quartet worked with Paul Stanhope on his String Quartet no 2, which receives its world premiere performances on this tour. The Quartet has enjoyed learning Paul’s music very much, and are especially excited to premiere a work written especially for them.
Coming into the Musica Viva office for lunch, the Quartet proved to be a good-humoured group, joking about the Quartet’s formation and the politics between the Czech and Slovak republics, while Peter and Veronika struggled to remember how long they had been married (the fault of the jet-lag, of course!) It looks like the tour will be a lively one.
